For a very unique big-city-like dessert experience, Sucre is definitely the place to go. This chic patisserie (which should not be confused with bakery) on the square is extremely interesting and fun. The interior of the restaurant feels space-age with a predominantly white and bright orange color scheme. Large plasma screens displayed moving blobulous-lava-lamp like colors while we enjoyed decadent desserts in an impeccably sterile and peaceful environment.

My visit to Sucre was a fascinating experience. After entering the patisserie, I was hit full-on with a wave of a delicious bakery smell, since the restaurant serves only dessert at night (they have sandwiches for lunch). Upon entering, you can make yourself to the back counter where you are either seated or you can order the desserts to go. My tip? Pick seated. Although the desserts are about 60% of the price when you get them to go (not to mention they get put into amazingly cute boxes), if you want the full dining experience, I would stay. Once again, you're paying for the atmosphere.

The prices at Sucre are steep but probably worth it for the unique impressiveness and design. Our waiter was extremely nice and prompt. After having an extremely difficult time with picking from the large array of deliciously looking treats that were lined up behind the counter, I finally decided to try the petite sampler: Chocolate Bouchee (chocolate tartlet, sacher torte, and chocolate mousse pomponette).

The desserts were brought over in fancy plates and the presentation was gorgeous. It was obvious extreme care was put into each added chocolate swirly design and each garnish. My boyfriend and I even argued over whether they went though the detail of sprinkling their food with transparent glitter-like sugar (they did). Our waiter was very eager to show us the sugar sprinkles. Turns out the sugar flakes are sent though a laser so they will have a CD-like iridescence when light reflects off of them.

In addition, the food tasted very good. Each bite was delicious and the flavors melded perfectly. The pomponette was especially rich and tasty. I was also thankful that none of the treats were overly sweet.

I left Sucre thinking about the lack of a real cosmopolitan restaurant that can pair up to the finish of Sucre. Nothing really stands up to the experience here like a Madisony-WD-50. I would highly recommend Sucre for a fancy girls night out experience as well as a stunning end to a romantic date.
