A few weeks ago, a group of friends and I headed over to UNOs to feast on their deep dish pizza. If you have not been to a UNOs for awhile, a huge difference in the recent years is a large expanded menu with a lot more options than just pizza. The restaurant has also been renamed from Pizzeria UNO to the more awkward, UNO Chicago Grill to accompany this menu expansion.

The downtown UNOs in Madison is in a perfect location. It is conveniently located right off of State Street which somewhat matches its downtown pizzeria atmosphere it tries to create. One of the perks we didn't test out, but has been mentioned to me as being fun, is the drinks and half price appetizers available during happy hour.

We ordered various deep dish pizzas, flatbread, side salad, and one person ordered the steak and shrimp entree. The pizzas overall were very delicious and the deep dish has a perfect crispiness without being overly greasy. However, the other food available on the menu is quite lacking. The steak dish was fairly mediocre.

UNOs is also very courteous and the service is wonderful. On this particular visit, someone received the wrong pizza size and got to keep that in addition to getting another pizza of the correct size. In a past visit, they accidentally forgot to take out a topping and gave us that pizza for free along with a correct pizza and on top of that, a free dessert.

I would definitely recommend UNOs for any group dining occasion, especially if you are up for some tasty deep dish pizza.

Tossy had a flat-bread pizza with chunky tomato sauce and mushrooms, along with a delicious raspberry-lime cooler. Both were found to be delicious. The flat bread for the pizza was as fresh as it could have been, unlike the stale flat bread one sometimes finds at restaurants. Tossy really has good things to say about the food she enjoyed. In general, she noticed that Uno's is on the pricier side of college fare, but she did not end up paying too much (since vegan items on menus tend to be cheaper than non-vegan items in general). She is also delighted that Uno's participated in the "Tasty Way to Raise Some Dough" fund raiser for Kenya.
